Tickers Cardiac Support Group
Tickers Cardiac Support Group is a non-profit organisation based in Writtle, near Chelmsford. We provide physical exercise classes to people recovering from heart attacks or suffering from cardiac problems.
We are affiliated to the British Heart Foundation.
Clients are generally referred to us via Broomfield Hospital and local GPs to achieve the health benefits of exercise, which we deliver as group exercise classes supervised by instructors qualified with the British Association of Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation.
The classes are designed to improve physical fitness, increase self-confidence, and it’s medically proven that people who do regular physical activity have:
- up to 35% lower risk of coronary heart disease/stroke
- up to 50% lower risk of type 2 diabetes
- up to 50% lower risk of colon cancer
- up to 20% lower risk of breast cancer
- 30% lower risk of early death
- up to 83% lower risk of osteoarthritis
- up to 68% lower risk of hip fracture
- 30% lower risk of falls (among older adults)
- up to 30% lower risk of depression
- up to 30% lower risk of dementia
We are based at the Writtle Sports & Social Club Hall in Paradise Road, Writtle, Chelmsford CM1 3HW.
